Why not use Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or even Flash?” In this tutorial, you will be using an iPad app called Sketchbook Pro.
![]() ![]() This process will likely take years, and is often something musicians work on throughout their whole life. Lastly, if you get advanced you work on stuff that is either atonal or near atonal. You then learn how to do transitions between different keys. Then move on to navigating a key fluently. You start with simple intervals and scales. Don't get discouraged, start with the basics in each area and move up as you get better. Everything when you are learning this relates to the tonal center, not the previous pitch - this keeps you from getting off among other things.Īll of these skills, like playing an instrument, take time. Worst case scenario, play the tonal center note on the piano if you get lost, and build up from there. Don't play the notes on a piano before singing them because it should be coming from you and not the instrument. The above method of singing the tonal center or filling in notes is important. Eventually, you won't need to sing these in between notes any more. If you are lost, you sing the tonal note (the note of the key that the music is in) and then do a scale up to the interval. When you can't "hear" an interval in your head before singing it you can fill in the notes between the current note and the next notes with scale notes (best to do them as quick grace notes if you can). You can first learn to sing intervals, and then simple melodies. I strongly believe in using solfege, and fixed do solfege (as most people start to develop some sense of perfect pitch over time) is one of the best ways to do this. ![]() I believe sight singing is the best method for this. When you can internally hear harmonies and the tonal center you can tune accordingly.Ībility to "hear" music form looking at sheet music before it is played: A lot of intonation comes from the ability to hear the tonal center of the music and the harmonies. Also, playing something like a bass line on the piano and singing the melody, and the other way around, can help with this. You really feel how a tone fits against the tonal center drone by doing this. Singing with a drone really helps with this. It helps to start with simple things and build on this as you get better. ![]() You listen to music, or tunes and or harmonies generated by program or just recordings. The main method for this is dictation and transcription. These do all relate, but I found that it helps to treat them differently as I found that ability in one does not always mean ability in the other. There are a lot of methods to attack each of these areas. The ability to imagine what the music will sound like from notes before ever having heard it or played it.The ability to tune pitches by telling if they are sharp or flat. This includes hearing intervals, hearing what the note is within a key, or hearing notes from memory. I have previously commented that GlassFish implements the platform Java EE (Enterprise Edition). In addition, it is not difficult to configure a load balanced cluster to start squeezing this project into your own local or contracted server. ![]() Coco Chanelīe bold and mighty forces will come to your aid. Success is often achieved by those who don’t know that failure is inevitable. Whatever we believe about ourselves and our ability comes true for us. Take the attitude of a student, never be too big to ask questions, never know too much to learn something new. What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard work. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard. If you’re willing to fail interestingly, you tend to succeed interestingly. Your living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life not so much by what happens to you as by the way your mind looks at what happens. It’s a concrete and intelligent way to view problems, challenges, and obstacles. Having a positive attitude isn’t wishy-washy. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice, and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do. Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude. It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up. Your attitude determines your altitude: quotes You can rely on your attitude because once it becomes a part of you and your personality, it will always be there. If you do, your life will be a roller coaster. ![]() ![]() You cannot rely on luck or external influences in the long run. To pretend they don’t is to be naive.īut at the end of the day, your attitude will be the main difference. There are a lot of external factors that can influence your path to greatness. Your attitude doesn’t happen to you, you create it.Īnd again, luck plays a role. Your talents, how you grew up, your environment, luck or bad luck - those just happen to you. But those are the result of a decision to change your attitude, to make your attitude align with your vision. Then there is discipline and dedication and hard work. You can consciously choose to let go of all the thoughts, feelings, and actions that don’t lead anywhere, and replace them with empowering ones. So if there’s a take-home message, it’s this: your attitude is the best indicator of whether you reach a certain altitude or not, and you get to choose. Just decide what it’s going to be, who you’re going to be, and how you’re going to do it, and then from that point, the universe will get out of your way. Your path won’t be as easy as everyone else’s.īut that comes after your decision to excel at what you do, to be the best, to never give up, to use failure as fuel, to always find a way. Yes, there will be hard work and all that. On the other hand, it reminds us that all it takes is a decision. One one hand, it makes your “aptitude” - your innate skills, your talent, or even your current skills - seem insignificant, worthless. This can sound daunting or motivating depending on how you look at it. Which is the result of a choice or decision. That’s what we call “attitude.” Our altitude, the heights we reach in life, are the result of our own attitude. Let’s go back to the core message of the quote, what it refers to fundamentally: your own decision to think, feel, and act a certain way. Which is usually what comes after years of dedication, patience, and consistency. Similarly, society tends to glorify what’s called overnight success. We tend to be oblivious to the blood, sweat, and tears. got to the top because of their talent alone. Whether it’s for our own success, or other people’s.įor example, we like to think certain actors, entrepreneurs, artists etc. The issue is when we fall into the trap of thinking those skills are enough. And by cultivating those, it’ll be much easier to achieve anything. Now, that’s not to say that talent and innate skills are not important. Your own decision to think, feel, and act a certain way will be a much greater indicator of success compared to your natural talents. But essentially, the message is always the same. You can paraphrase Ziglar’s quote in many different ways. ![]() Your hard work, not your talent, will determine whether you achieve a goal or not.
